Why are 12 year olds so lovesick for one direction?? I'm thirteen and i dont get it?

okay well this is going to be a journey. there are fans that are 6 - 12 who only like them because they are "cool" and "hot" and call themselves fans when they really only like 1 -3 of their songs, and I hate that because the whole fanbase is put into some kind of figure of crazy psycho girls. In reality, most girls (or guys) look to music as an escape, and One Direction gave us that escape. Their music is actually really good and them being attractive is a bonus. But there are fans who have major family, social, or personal problems like eating disorders, depression, anxiety, bully victims, etc. and all that is needed is for at least one person to compliment them. that can make someones day. everyone has their opinions and that's totally fine, I respect that, but there are just people who go on hating on this band who has saved so many lives because they are themselves and it teaches people to be who they are. BUT ANYWAY the fans that sit on their device at 3 AM crying over them on tumblr who aren't crazy, who don't go to concerts, but love them because of who they are and the message they try to send out. those are what a lot of the fans are. woah this is long ok. yeah you don't know what people are going through or who cries themselves to sleep at night so don't hate on the only reason someone may be alive. but yeah no hate bc I don't want to start anything oops.
