Does google prefer it if your .co.uk website is hosted in the UK?

I don't think so. If your website is .co.uk then it will get a higher ranking on Google's uk website, but it will lower on .com and the other regions.in terms of where in the world its hosted, I don't believe it will matter as long as its .co.uk. I'm sorry you had that idiot spammer on your question, did the same to mine as well.
