If I'm apparently attractive, why can't I find anyone new?

If I'm apparently attractive, why can't I find anyone new?
I've been told by a good amount of people that I am very handsome/cute. By females mainly, and surprisingly a few guys (I'm not gay though).

I'm 17 and have only had one girlfriend. She was gorgeous, not only to me but to a lot of other guys would tell me I'm extremely lucky, but we just wanted different things in the relationship. She wanted a "Hang out every day" relationship and I couldn't do that. Story for another time.

This other girl has an interest in me, but she gets drunk at home and smokes pot with friends on the weekends. I'm not into that and I want a girl with her head on straight.

There was a girl I was crazy about, but I guess I made her uncomfortable after asking her out, and she stopped texting me altogether.

My thing is, girls at my school never approach me, unless if they're my friends. I catch some people looking at me, but I'm assuming it's just random eye contact.

I'm from the real nerdy group at school. We're kind of the social outcasts because we're pseudo gay around each other (Just joking around) and sometimes we joke about really insensitive things. That's probably it. I don't know though. Help me out trying to figure this out?
