My friend is having this problem too..she said she checked the Twitter Announcment board page or whatever and it said they are having some technicle difficulties with the site so things aren't working properly but they should be back to normal soon.
So just wait it out for a day and maybe tomorrow they'll be taken off--or you could contact Twitter to see if something else is going on.
