Yes, clicking the red X top right does usually tend to close all Windows almost always and give the symptoms that you describe, that is what it is there for.
To close only the page that you are on and go back one then click the left facing arrow at the top left of the screen, which will take you back to the previous page. Some versions of Windows such as 7 do ask you if you want to close all Windows or just the current one if you click the red X at the top right of the screen, so you either do not have a version that does that and the Windows installation is doing what it normally does, or it is corrupt in some way. To repair Windows files you can try the sfc /scannow command, note that there is a space between the sfc and the / though. http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthe...cannow.htm It is not an Internet problem as I see it, it is either your Windows installation or the way you are operating it.
