Wordpress is not the most secure or professional ecommerce site platform, though with the countless plugins you can do just about anything. It's typically used by those with no real web programming skills.

There are pre-designed ecommerce site templates you can buy that require a minimum of adjustment by a developer. To see a lot of designs check out Templatemonster.com.

Probably not true in your case, some suppliers have Data Feeds that can automatically populate web site pages with standard catalog data. Check out the eTailer DataFlow and other services here http://www.dcinet.com/p-4568-jobbers.html you may be able to offer a huge catalog that's automatically updated as new products come put.

If you search for: wholesale auto part data feed you will also find some data feeds offered to affiliate marketers who list parts on their site but send the prospects to a store sit for a 15% or so commission.

To get a feel for the going rate you might look at the projects up for bid in freelance marketplaces like odesk.com, elance.com or vworker.com while it's a bit hit an miss, you might find a quality off short web developer who could do a competent job, whether there are parts that need to be photographed wold be a complication.
