Marketing for business /product on Facbook? Assistance, Help Needed….?

I like that you're asking. What I see most companies do is jump on Facebook/Twitter, create a page, and then call it good. They make limited effort to reach out to their audience and ultimately the venture fails - and it should.

The purpose of social media is to interact with your audience in a way that is exciting to them. "What would my clients/customers like me to do?" is a central question you need to ask yourself.

Here are a couple of really solid examples:

- Bacon Salt (a company that literally sells bacon flavored salt) reached out to self-professed bacon lovers on Facebook. The new company took off as 37,000 people jumped on board with them.
- Dell has had great success using Twitter to announce sales and refurbishments. Dell knows that at least some of it's customers are looking for great prices and fits that demand

What can your product do to excite others? Who can you reach out to? Remember that you need to be heavily consumer oriented here, while still maintaining your own profitability.
