Broadband is usually a connection utilizing ethernet cables and or a cable modem to connect to your pc. A DSL (a.k.a. Digital Subscriber Line) is a family of connection types that utilize a telephone line or lease line.

Either way you get internet, but they are two different methods to getting you that connection.
