I'm having serious problems. Please help? :( sincere answers please?

Tell you're ex she's going to have to really prove to you she's going to stop talking to other guys if she is serious about working things out. And that until then, you need to take a break.

Ask your friend on a date and see how that goes. Don't mention your now ex girlfriend to her really unless she asks and even then don't say much, especially if you and your friend stopped talking because your now ex didn't like her. It would be a touchy subject for your friend.

If it doesn't work out with your ex - she either keeps talking to guys, or you decide she isn't worth your time anymore - don't get too upset. Obviously it sucks because you were together for 17 months but if it isn't right at least you know you aren't wasting your time on the wrong girl anymore. If your friend says yes to a date and it goes well then ask her to hang out again or to another date and start spending more time with her. You know what they say, when one door closes, another one opens!
