Hi,
A home network is a great way to spread the Internet through several computers using just one connection. The only real thing to remember is if you a watching videos on youtube etc on one machine that the others Internet connection speed will be affected. You said you already have a modem/router if its a combined one then at the back of it there should be either (depending on the make/model) a connection where the Internet connection (phone line) goes in then you will either have Ethernet connections which is great all you need to do is get another cat5 cable (just ask for a network cable at the store) and plug one end in to the a spare socket on the router and the other to the network card of your computer all things going well your set for a shared Internet connection. Some modem/routers have a usb connection and a single (or multiple) Ethernet connections. Its just the same as above but one can be connected via usb if you don't have a network card present in the other machine. Hope this has helped. Bye for now |
