App for sending msg!!?

You can actually use your email app to do this. Every major carrier operates what's called an Email-to-SMS gateway. You'll need to look up the gateway for your friend's operator. You send an email to their phone number @ the gateway, and they'll receive it as a text message. So if they had the number 1-555-555-1234 and were on Verizon Wireless, you'd send a message to 15555551234@vtext.com and they'd receive it as a text. (The one at the front is the country code for the US and Canada, by the way. We often leave that out, so if you're from one of those countries, you might not have seen it before).
