back off, honestly, descalate the situation. Like you said, you can't take on the guys and even if you do, it will only make things worse...

whose to stop them from bringing a knife..or a gun?

honestly, back off, let him play out whatever he wants, just make sure you and your gf are tight, that you both understand the situation!
