The Groomer's Lounge
http://www.groomerslounge.com/ Groomers Continuing Education on Facebook Notes From The Grooming Table http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0975412809 Perhaps try volunteering as a bather to some local shops in return for training. Shops are reluctant to take a chance on newbies, because it's so common for them to either quit within the week because the job is not what they expected, or take enough training so they feel confident and then quit and open their own shop in competition. So make yourself as attractive as possible. This is NOT playing with puppies all day, and it's not like grooming your own dog. You not only need to know basic coat care, safe clipping and scissoring, and the proper styles for the breeds, you also need to know dog behavior, first aid, sanitation, common health/skin issues, products etc. It's a physically demanding job, most of the dogs do NOT want to be groomed, you will be bitten, peed and pooped on, get anal gland stuff in your hair, you'll see infections, fleas, ticks, maggots, disgusting filthy animals and obnoxious clients.
