Add him Smile try to become friends with him again. When you first talk to him again just be casual and act like he were just some other guy mate u had. Tell him its good to hear from him again and as things progress hang out more just as friends because being friends is the base to any relationship and the most important part. Eventualy you will come on to the topic of why he left you but thats for later not now Smile.
