I just heard Facebook ($FB) might switch from NASDAQ to NYSE. What's the difference? Why does this matter?

I just heard Facebook ($FB) might switch from NASDAQ to NYSE. What's the difference? Why does this matter?
The only thing I know about these markets is that NASDAQ is more of a fast paced exchange, and NYSE is in new york. seriously i dont know why it matters.
