A "fan page" is separate from a personal profile.
The only connection is the necessity of having a personal page... to create a fan page.
Facebook won't let anyone join up as a business page.

Your friends don't see your posts from your fan page... unless they "like" it.
Very few people will see your posts from your fan page, due to FB winnowing them out... Seems like FB holds our posts hostage... they want us to pay to get the posts seen!
