Did he miss the friendship?

Well the fact that he says he wishes the two of you could be chill shows that he wants some sort of resolution to this feud. Nobody likes being enemies with someone who used to be a friend so of course he misses it. I would advise talking face to face rather than on facebook or in text messages...it leads to so many misunderstandings as texts can be misinterpreted due to the lack of facial expression, tone, and body language, no matter how many emoji you use, you cannot convey exactly how you feel in a text message.
I have had two fights with the same friend because of texts being perceived as having an angry tone when in actual fact they didn't.
For example if I wanted to tell my friend that I was tired of being let down by her I could say that in a calm non-aggressive tone face to face and I could have a neutral facial expression which lets her know I am not angry but just a little disappointd but in a text it would come across as follows
"I am fed up you letting me down all the time, I feel like I can't rely on you!"
Automatically anyone would assume that there is an aggressive tone to that text!
I learned the hard way! talk to your friend and sort your differences out face to face.
