anything over 1.0 mbps internet is fast enough for the average user to watch movies and play games. so try this:
1. open http://www.speedtest.net, and run the speed test. is your internet faster than 1.0 mbps download? If so, whats the ping? is it below 100 ms? if so, you have great internet, and the real problem is that your PC is using too much internet. Every program that we install will usually connect to the internet for updates, wait for data, or download items. Windows 8 is very guilty of this, so are java and adobe products. So i recommend looking at whats installed on your pcs and disabling anything that might use internet bandwith. Torrent applications running in the background? windows set to update automatically? install the add-on "adblock plus" for firefox. this blocks annoying adds that clog up the internet. quick solution : download and install ubuntu linux or lubuntu. these are very streamlined operating systems that dont use much memory or bandwith. Web browsing on them vs using windows 7 or 8 is superior. almost 2x as fast. |
