Right now because Google decides who gets found in search and woh gets on the first page results google is god of search. Because google has decreed that backlinks decide relevance in relation to a search term, seo is backlinks.

On page optimization counts for 1% of seo, Backlinks are everything.

The reality of SEO my friend is that SEO is Backlinks, period.
