It all depends on the upload speed capability of the seeder.... and, of course, the size of the file.
Home users generally have an upload speed about a tenth that of the "advertised" speed (which is the download speed). If you're the seeder and have an advertised connection speed of 10Mb/s.... you'll probably be uploading at 1 Mb/s. Now, that's bits - not bytes. An easy conversion to bits to bytes is to divide by 10 (while there are only 8 bits per byte, transmission overhead costs some time - and dividing by 10 is easier). So, you'll be uploading at a rate of 100 kilobytes per second. That means it would take 10 seconds to upload a megabyte, 6 megabytes per minute. Divide the size of the video (in megabytes) by 6, and about that's how many minutes it will take. |
