How to message a girl I like on FB?

Well personally I find it annoying and a little creepy when guys never talk to me in person but try to idly chat with me on Facebook. I don't think the level of Facebook interaction should ever exceed the amount of interaction that actually happens between the two of you offline.

Especially, ESPECIALLY annoying are those FB/text conversations that start with nothing other than "what's up" or "hello" and don't go anywhere beyond that relatively soon. If you want to talk to me you'd damn well better have something to say, I am not here to shoot the breeze with virtual strangers.

Ahem.

What I would suggest is that you throw some sort of party--a summer cookout, a birthday party, a fourth of July party--whatever you can get to make sense. Invite your Facebook friends. Include her. THEN message her, but now you have a purpose: to specifically tell her that you would like to see her attend your party!

your FB convo should go something like this (when she is ONLINE, not to her inbox):

you: Hey Becky how are you?
Becky (I decided her name is Becky, deal with it): oh hi Stan, I'm fine, how's your summer?
(you're Stan now)
you: my summer's going great! I'm having a BBQ next week-- did you get the invite? I'd really love it if you could come.

It is not vague. It gets to the point quickly. It asserts oneself and one's goals. It does not betray fear and weakness. It implies that you are awesome and having an awesome life because you are doing social things and your summer is going well. People want to be part of awesome lives.
