No, its not cheating. I would not have chatted with him because you gotta think of the whole picture, before I start by no means am I blaming you. First off, you say you dearly love your man (which I believe!), but here's the thing what would happen if he found out you were messaging an ex on facebook? Would he assume the worst? Would he have trust issues assuming you are hiding something? Could him have lack of trust lead to a break up? You gotta see the whole picture, something as innocent as messaging an ex can cause problems later down the road; so you weigh out your options is the friendship of this ex really worth jeopardizing your current relationship? That's for you to answer, but I assume from what you've said that its an easy "NO!" Part of getting serious in a relationship and continuing the seriousness is cutting ties with all exs (unless kids are involved), that why if for some God awful reason down the road someone tries to say "Yeah I slept with your woman." All you have to say is "Stop right there, because you and I both know that isn't true because I haven't had ANY type of contact with you since we broke up." By cutting the ties you really are putting a security around your relationship and make it invincible to outside sources ruining it. Same sex friends are OK, but as far as ex's go I wouldn't go there and as far as texting and calling guy friends often that's pushing it. You don't want to plant a seed of doubt in your significant other's head to ever risk your relationship. Best of luck to your dear!
