A keyword matched domain name can help the home page, as well as a lot of backlinks with the keyword included in their anchor text. (take care, much over 15% anchor text and and only including a keyword can make those links suspicious.

Some SEO experts concerned with having to shed backlinks if an Onnatural Link Pattern warning is received from Google, are now suggesting not backlinking to the home page where removing backlinks is harder.
