Help connect to internet?

I have a new computer which is hp and I decided to try it last night, I had previously connected it to the home network but not sure if I set it up right or set it as home but It won't connect to the internet. Every other device connected is working in the house except the laptop, it says its connected to an unidentified network but says that isn't connected to the internet. I don't think the modem is the problem as other devices are fine, it says the problem us the modem though! I'm connected to the right modem, ahhhh! Any suggestions?
