Can I wire a switch to net and then to a Router and still get internet connection?

The PC should still get Internet, but there is absolutely no reason to put in that switch. That is because the switch cannot route (not a router). Anyone connecting to the switch will get the one and only one IP address from the internet modem, disconnecting the router and its users.
To share internet with more than one device at the same time, the router must be the first device after the ISP's connection to the Internet (usually the ISP modem). Only after the router, can you add a switch, and expand the network.
