Does Sim 3 need internet connection? (please help)?

First of all, it might not work on your Laptops. There are some company Acknowledged glitches and people are having too many problems to get into the actual gameplay on their laptops ( I hope you kept the receipt and stuff).

I'll try to explain this a little better. You need your computer to be able to connect to the internet. When you first put the game on a computer you have to do what you are running into right now. Then you need to download some updates for the game. Before you get to all this, you really need to update drivers on your computer. Updating the game and updating the drivers on your computer both require internet access. The good news is this might be the only time you have to register and update things -- bad news is you need to do all this.

Once you have everything up to date.. you won't need your computer to be connected to the internet any more. The game is not actually online so DURING GAMEPLAY you do not need to be connected to the internet. However, you may need to connect to the internet in the future for additional updates and if you ever want to download some extra items for free for your game.
