Kindle Paperwhite battery life?

It sounds like you are giving it heavier use than the battery test was based on. The battery test data says a single charge lasts up to eight weeks (4 weeks for 1st edition Paperwhite), based on a half hour of reading per day with wireless off and the light setting at 10. Battery life will vary based on light and wireless usage.

It is not tested with someone browsing or doing email or facebook or whatever you are doing with Wifi on. Wifi use and data download over Wifi are probably with highest battery use on the device. Using the light higher than setting 10 would add to that.

Also, if you overload it with junk (thousands of free ebooks for example) that may cause the battery to be used faster.

In addition, if you tried or use any of the "active content" games etc, a poorly written one could still be running int he background or hogging memory causing greater battery drain. A soft reset should get rid of any of those (power off, hold power on for 30 seconds, wait for long reboot).

I read 2 hours per day with Wifi off (except when downloading a book) and get about 2 weeks battery life with my Paperwhite 1st edition.

Worst battery life I ever got was with my earlier Kindle when I had close to 2000 ebooks on it. I de-registered it (so all Amazon ebooks were deleted) then re-registered and put on only about 50 books and it was back to like new, fast with long battery life.
