Is it worth selling on ebay?

There are 3 separate ebay/paypal fee's.
[a] Listing fee {advert cost} this is usually very small, 40 or 50 pence unless you are selling a car in which case it is 10 quid.
[b] Final Value Fee {Auctioneers commission} this is 10% of the total selling cost INCLUDING the cost of post & packing. [The amount is capped when selling cars but also has a 20 quid minimum then].
[c] Paypal administration Fee because almost everyone pays by paypal, this is 3 3/4% of the selling price. {Bank charges}
In total you lose approximately 15% in fee's on each sale. If you sold an item for £20 you would get about £17 of that.

ebay is an auction site just like the bricks and mortar ones dotted around all over the country and their total fee's are pretty much the same as the bricks & mortar ones.
