GCSE art exam recommendations?

For my final exam I am considering doing a fragmented portrait containing snippets of books, newspapers, quotes, patterns, ext. However, I'm not sure what materials to use. I don't have much experience with anything other than pencils and block paint and I want to do something different for a change. I was going to use a canvas with oil paint but I'm not sure that it would for fading. I've also considered using oil paints and acrylics but I'm not sure if they'd work on a canvas.

What would you recommend?
