If you are doing business within a city or state, then your SEO company will do Google Places optimization for your keywords. It is much easier to rank than traditional SEO. But time frame is depends on competition for keywords in your area. Once result achieved, this should be maintained by creating backlinks. Otherwise you will lose your rank very fast. Your SEO company doing only off-page SEO. So no need to worry about your site structure and meta tags. I hope this help.
