I know how you feel.
I have been in the same situation and i acted on it and even though i am not dating him, we are good friends.
If he is leaving in 7 days what do you have to lose ? On fb it should say if he has a girlfriend or not.
Normally he won't be able to see your older message.
Just say hey and talk a bit. I wouldn't use the term I think your cute it is a little childish ( i think personally but say what you want)
And maybe show some interest like smiling at him or ask him a question if you think you would feel better before sending him a message.
I say go for it =)
