Not to doubt your claim, but I'd be more suspicious of the hardware, rather than a problem with Windows 8. You might try using another wifi adapter if you're using a wireless connection, or looking into whether the router or modem are performing properly. Once upon a time ago I even had a problem with my modem resetting itself once or twice a day because the cable signal strength was insufficient. Many different things can cause a connection to drop from microwaves to cordless phones, and even using wireless in a congested environment like an apartment complex. And all routers are not created equally, so some will deal with interference better than others.
