If I understand correctly, you wish to share the internet connection established by the wifi router via ethernet cable through an ethernet hub to which you have numerous computers connected in a LAN? If so, yes. You are within the max cat 5 ethernet cable length of 100 meters and the hub will allow all devices to have internet access. Of course each will need to have the settings adjusted to use the internet via the router and I assume you'll want to set a password for LAN security.
If you wanted to add more devices than the hub could handle, you could also connect another hub via one of the ethernet ports on the existing hubs. My ethernet LAN contains 3 hubs and a router to the modem. All are connected in series. Always have the last device closest to the modem as a router and the modem will only see the router's IP address and the ISP will only see a single device connected. Legal and prevents having to register every device with the ISP., even though all devices have access. My router is an Airport Extreme that combines my ethernet network with my wireless network and connects all to the cable modem. Ads |
