Is there a way to create a website and have a company place ads for you?

There are many ad networks that will place text or banner ads on your site, all you do is insert a few lines of code to enable then to dynamically insert the ads, these days some ads are tailored to the visitor.

Google's Adsense is the most popular network for small operators, though their $100 min payout is higher than some of the 2nd tier ad networks. Adsense uniquely will match text ads to the content of each page, which can get better click rates and give you some indirect control of what sort of ads are displayed, writing about a subject people spend money on will get you higher paying ads

Some sites need 10,000 visitors to earn the $100 min payout. Treating the site like a publishing business with quality content and regular updates has a better chance of getting the search engine ranking needed to get decent traffic.

Google's free Blogger.com sites can earn the full Adsense ad amount, many other free hosts have revenue sharing schemes. you often must have your own site domain name to qualify to show ads.
