While the hits will not hurt your SEO, they are considered ghost hits, meaning you will not get any results.

Do not use submission services, it is best to list your site by hand. Also, do not use the tools advertised everywhere. This can get you penalized by the search engines.

Add your site to netinsert.com and Google will index in about a week, Yahoo and the others will follow in about 3 - 4 weeks.
