Tracking packs with "LNXXXXXXXXXCN" code?

According to the USPS web site, this is a "Priority Mail International Flat Rate Envelope or Small Flat Rate Box". If you are mailing from one country to another using the postal service, you can't get tracking information once it leaves the country. For example, if I buy registered delivery here in the UK, but I mail it to the US, the only thing the Royal Mail can tell me is when they handed it off to the USPS. Once it leaves the Royal Mail, I can't use the Royal Mail's web site to track it any more. Likewise if you mailed this from the US to a foreign country, then you can only track it using the USPS while it is in the US. As soon as it leaves the US, it is in the custody of some other mail service and they will not provide any information back to the USPS about what's going on.

The only way to have complete shipping information from door-to-door and do it internationally is to use a commercial carrier like FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc. When they deliver the package, it is always in their custody, so they always know where it is, regardless of what country it is in.

Chances are that it is held in customs in the non-US country. I shipped a laptop from the US to the UK this way once. I won't make that mistake again. It sat in UK customs for 3 months. The laptop became a Valentine's day present instead of a Christmas present.
