Here are a couple of images of branches of the hepatic artery.

That means that there is normally no connection to the IMA. Remember, the liver is normally supplied by the hepatic artery off the celiac trunk. I can only suggest that you dig (via Google or PubMed) about liver cancers being supplied via the IMA. Any articles may have images.
