Problem with Phone line and internet connection?

hi, we have 2 phone in our house one in the kitchen and the other is in my room. the modem is in my room connected through adsl fiter with the phone. and the one in the kitchen is directly connected to the phone jackpoint. we use the one in the kitchen to answer the calls and every time that happens the connction disconnect. what is the problem?
