Just as in the real world people have home addresses or telephone numbers that others can use to contact them, every system connected to the Internet or to a particular network has its own unique INTERNET PROTOCOL address or IP address. Your IP address is the address to which data should be sent to ensure that it reaches your system. An IP address is to a computer on the Internet what your telephone no. or mobile no. is to you in the real world. In the same way that you do not give out your telephone or mobile no. to every single stranger that you meet, all efforts must be made to protect your IP address from getting into the bad guy's hands.
An IP address is a 32-bit decimal number. For example : 255.255.255.255 OR 206.190.36.45 DNS-Domain Name System- If an IP address is represented i the form of recognizable characters and names (for e.g. http://www.yahoo.com), then it is said to be in the form of DNS. Every DNS or website has its own IP address. We can convert a DNS IP address into a Normal IP Address. We can easily get the IP address of a domain by various methods, such as WHOIS, netstat, ping, traceroute, and so on. Here, I have used ping to get the IP address : Step 1 : Open Run Dialog Box and type cmd. Step 2 : Then it opens DOS window. Step 3 : Type ---- ping http://www.yahoo.com C:\Users\Joker>ping http://www.yahoo.com Pinging yahoo.com [206.190.36.45] with 32 bytes of data: ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Thank You |
