Netgear router: block website and keyword?

Truth of the matter is most residential routers aren't designed with 'complexity' in mind. The legacy Netgear routers only allow you to pick one or the other so you have to pick scheduled blocking or always.

Porn sites might be alot more difficult to block because of the numerous amounts of words you'd have to enter to successfully keep them out. You may be better off schedule blocking FB and use a parental content software to block access to porn sites on the other machines.

A route that I took was to use DYNDNS webfiltering service on a secondary router. Once you setup an account on DynDns.org, you simply put the hostname, username and password on the Dynamic DNS service tab on your router. This will add a partial layer of security and content blocking that basic firewall cannot add. I could access all of my 'adult' stuff on the primary router and the kids were blocked behind the secondary router. I don't think my kids knew the internet existed until after they moved out. Downside to having a dad who works in IT.

Doing a scheduled block of FB on the router may not guarentee success since you can access FB from mobile phones, tablets and gaming consoles. Now that I think about it... I'm curious to find out if it can block it on Xbox. brb. Anyway if they have independent internet access such as a data plan on their phone then they don't need to worry about accessing the router to bypass your block.
