Seems like a hardware issue. If it isn't, I think you should report to Google about it. I have Chrome on multiple computers and they all work fine for me.

Also, try reinstalling it. You stated you only uninstalled it, why not give it another chance? It could have been that the settings on it were messed up; a reinstallation would make the settings normal again.

Yeah I don't understand it either, and this computer is actually about 7 years old and it's running fine. I would report to Google about it.
