Why is it embarrassing, if I may ask? If it's because of what your friends say, then just ignore them. Your parents aren't doing it to be mean, it's to protect you. Facebook has become the next MySpace, except worse. It's a stalker's dreamland because a lot of people are open about sharing their pictures, daily life, and personal information. I mean, why track someone down in real life when you can just access their facebook? I'm sure they are especially concerened because you are a young girl.
