Your parents are just trying to protect you. There are big bad wolves out there who like to devour girls.

Do your parents use Facebook themselves? If not, then I suggest that you educate them. Why don't you have a talk with both of your parents together. Show them your friends' Facebook pages so they can see your friends' pictures. Show them how Facebook works and let them see how you can set up your own levels of privacy so they'll be comfortable knowing that their very responsible daughter can keep herself safe from Internet predators. Explain to them that you are well-aware of the fact that everything you post online will end up stored permanently somewhere and that you'd never put any pictures up that would come back to haunt you or your family later. Nor would you give out your last name or home address.

If your parents are already familiar with Facebook, it wouldn't hurt to show them that you are aware of the dangers and how to protect yourself.

Farah, when you're young being embarrassed in front of your friends seems like the end of the world. But it isn't. You're very lucky to have parents who care about you so much.
