I think facebook is still having issues with it. But once you have activated timeline by going to facebook.com/about/timeline
you will have a 5 day trial to test it out.

they still havent given a release date for timeline due to a lot of debate and lawsuits <- look it up

but once it goes out it will be the new replacement from the old profile!
