It's hard to conclusively say,
but in my experience it never costs anything to treat someone with respect and show your friends some common courtesy by returning their calls,messages etc.[especially ones that you are supposed to deeply care for and are intimate with,such as him and you are]
I'm concerned that he's treating you with contempt and indifference.

You shouldn't feel responsible by that though,
as I'm sure that he treats others in a similar fashion,not just you.
