I'm confused? Was this really her?

So, I was just on Facebook and one of the girls on my list messaged me, "Hey cutie." I'm friends with this girl, sort of. I'm a freshman in high school and we started talking last year. We had Band together and I hung out with her and some friends at an amusement park one day.

I messaged her back and said hey and she asked what was up. I told her not much and then she messaged me "I miss talking with you. We should hang out soon."

I didn't talk to her very much, I mean I was sort of part of her small group for a little while but we never really got to know each other very well. The other day, her FB got hacked by one of her friends and I think it might be him because I don't really see much of a reason why she'd suddenly just message me and say that she missed talking with me.

Do you think it was her or her friend that send that to me?
I'm only asking this because I'm not very popular and I don't hang out with the group she hangs out with, so I don't want to go up to her and start talking to her all heavily (cuz I talk a lot) and then realize that her friend had actually sent that to me. Plus, she dated popular boys and is a cheerleader, she wouldn't want to date me. I doubt she'd call me "cutie" either.
