How do you block someone from posting on your facebook timeline?

there is a privacy setting to prevent everyone from starting a new post on your timeline, but not just for one person

and there is no setting to prevent people from commenting on something they can see

so your best option would be to add them to your restricted list, however they will still be able to start new posts on your timeline, they just wont be able to see your status updates anymore
