How do I get it so that it will notify me when someone mentions me on twitter?

It is currently not possible.
Although if you use the official iphone or other smart phone app it usualy has a tab that will alert you if you have a new Mention

I also use a windows sidebar gadget twitter app that lights up if i have a mention..
