When you add someone on Facebook, do they recieve friend request immiedetly?

k so im on my ipo looking for a girl. But while i scolled down, i accidently pressed the button on the right and that apparebtly added some girl from my grade. I dont wanna add her cuz i wanted to wait later, so my ipod freezes for like a min then when it worked i cancelles the request. But her profile shows a status only made 15 minutes ago, so shes prolly online.

Would she gotten all this instantly or do friend requests take time to deliver? Im fked she prolly now thinks im a creepy dude whos stalking her and stuff :$
