Why wont Twitter Search find my friends, who I know have twitter accounts?

I let it look for my friends through my email but it won't let me search for anyone else I just get this error message: Loading Tweets seems to be taking a while.
Twitter may be over capacity or experiencing a momentary hiccup. Try again or visit Twitter Status for more information.
